The Client
Women at Amazon is a global affinity group for women, non-binary employees, and allies at Amazon with over 80 chapters worldwide, and the largest membership out of all of Amazon's affinity groups. Women at Amazon is committed to attracting, developing, and retaining women in both tech and non-tech roles across all of Amazon's businesses. Women at Amazon chapters provide professional and personal support and community to hire, develop, retain, and elevate more women.
The Design
Designs for Amazon are as diverse as their product offerings. I've had the pleasure of designing for AWS (Amazon Web Services) engineering, data migration, and now Women at Amazon. For this design, the client requested two typography focused designs: one with just text and one with an illustrated heart and text wrap.
Hand-lettered designs are one of my favorite current design trends and for this design I wanted to capture the essence of that style. After some exploration and experimenting, the final design has a balance of strength and contrast, with the interwoven text giving a sense of unity and togetherness.
