Carnegie Mellon University's Out & Allied, Alumni Association, Out and Allied: Tepper School
The Client
In its 115 years, Carnegie Mellon has soared to national and international leadership in higher education and research. A birthplace of innovation since its founding, it continues to be known for innovation, for solving real-world problems and for interdisciplinary collaboration.
In 2007, the Scottish Highland Terrier was named the official mascot of Carnegie Mellon University. The Scottie is a confident, independent and spirited breed. Carnegie Mellon University's mascot is named Scotty, a Scottie that stands 11 inches high.
The Design
For this design I worked with CMU's Alumni Engagement department to create a special version of the Scotty logo and CMU’s wordmark for a LGBTQ+ fundraiser.
We explored several options of the Scotty logo with different iterations of LGBTQ+ flag colors, apparel options for Scotty, as well as wordmarks from the CMU brand system.
For the final version, Scotty is the sole element on the front design, with his traditional red scarf showing the full spectrum of colors from the Progress Pride flag.
